Moving storage makes it tremendously easy to move house, or simply store your possessions. However, if you are used to packing moving vans, you will need to learn a slightly different way to pack moving storage effectively. If this is your first time packing a storage pod, read on to find out about the best way to go about it. When packing a moving van, you want the heaviest items to be concentrated toward the cab to make the van more manageable and to reduce the chance that heavy items will crush lighter items. Moving storage, on the other hand, does not have a "forward" or a "backward." Over the course of transport, it could be turned in any direction and placed anywhere in the moving truck or storage unit. Focus on making the moving storage unit itself well balanced by evenly distributing the weight of your belongings across the floor of the container. Put the heaviest items on the bottom and the lightest items on the top to make the storage container more stable. Fill the container completely, packing padding into even the tiniest spaces. Even a little empty space can let your things rattle around enough to break. Packing peanuts are useful in boxes, but not loose in the storage pod. If you do not have enough to fill the entire pod, packing peanuts tend to settle to the bottom of the pod, leaving your boxes with space between them. Instead, use towels, blankets, pillows, and other soft, washable furnishings. When you are done, try to shift the boxes, and if they move at all, add more padding. Larger moving storage containers are often provided with eyehooks to allow you to rope your possessions down instead. Divide the container into sections, using the arrangement of eyehooks in the container as a guide, and fill each section completely. Lash it down, then fill the next section. Use as much rope as you need, and do not worry about using too much. Also make sure you know how to tie non slip knots beforehand, or you may open your container at the end of the move to find that all the ropes slackened and your belongings are in a disorganized pile. As you pack the moving storage, remember to concentrate the weight on the bottom, not at the front. Make the contents of the unit completely immobile with padding, or get the same effect by roping it down. If you follow this advice, your things will be delivered to your new address in the same condition you put them into the unit. Enjoy the convenience of using moving storage!
